Dark f&b shades that are not hague blue

Thourght i had my heart set on hague blue for the lounge.
But sick of seeing it in insta and wondering if will date quickly.

I like the idea of going dark.

Think we using railings on 1 wall in kitchen diner as planning black kitchen units.

So far come across downpipe grey or a dark green.

Anyone used these 2 or suggest any other dark shades please.

Also did you do feature wall or whole room?

Reading magazines trend seems be 2 walls a bold colour.

why are you limiting yourself to Gand B. It's ridiculously expensive and their are better value chalk paints out there.

Another vote for stiffkey blue - it's a really lovely colour.

3asAbird Tue 20-Nov-18 13:26:23

Im willing to consider other brands

As researched mylands and little greene

Want the lounge to be dark dramatic and grown up room as kids will have their own living room.

Dark blue is the new pale grey..so yes it will date but if you like it do it.
Little Greene paint is SO much better than Farrow and Ball though- Really good pigment.
How about a really deep emerald green?
I would be bold and do the whole room.

I have stiffkey blue in one room and downpipe in the other. Both lovely though stiffkey is 'bluer' than I expected

PinkOboe Tue 20-Nov-18 13:33:53

There's a beeeeeaaaatiful abilgal ahern dark blue...hang on I'll find a link

But yes, dark blue is certainly having a moment. Because it's lovely but accept it will very soon be ubiquitous

We have downpipe in our kitchen and looks lovely against light units.

Thanks for all feedback.
My husband thinks im being obsessive.
My mums fussy and says whats wrong with dulux.

Its a 1930s terrace and wanted to use more expensive paint in main living areas.

I originally wanted navy and white kitchen but price was too high so changed to black and white and thourght the lounge would be blue but seen too much blue and some done badly.
The hallway could be blue as picked blue and white floor tiles and has dado rail so maybe hall/landing is best place to induldge in blue.

Feel quite drawn to greens.
Will green be the new grey/ navy colour of the future
I like grey but feel like blue its overdone
Down pipe looks like a very bluey grey.

Sat on coffee 1 today which had mix of pale green. Dark kaiki green and grey which looked surprisingly nice.

Would you mix a grey and blue together in the same room?

Baconbinge Tue 20-Nov-18 15:51:18

Inchyra Blue is a lovely bluey green colour.

I have Hicks Blue by Little Greene in my snug, on all four walls. Its so cosy andwonderful and very similar to F&B Stifkey Blue (which part of my kitchen is painted)

If I was doing it all again I would go for a dark green. Maybe Jewel Beetle by Little Green.

@PinkOboe - the abigail ahern blue is Rivington Blue. I've had my living room painted that colour for the last five years. It's really nice although starting to think about changing it but not sure what to.

79andnotout Tue 20-Nov-18 17:18:10

Also another vote for Little Greene, it's a lovely paint to work with, and I've painted over very dark ceilings with light colours and it's only taken two coats.

Jewel Beetle by Little Green is beautiful

Twatforahat Wed 21-Nov-18 09:13:04

I have proud peacock by Dulux. It's a teal and a nice dark green/blue.

3asAbird Wed 21-Nov-18 15:32:23

Incheyra blue looks lovely.

Discovered a shop called brewers stocks all the brands f&b as well as mylands/little greene so off there i think get colour cards and tester pots.

3asAbird Brewers are excellent, they also do Albany paint which is good quality, also throughly recommend Mylands paint, covers well & is really hardwearing.

We just did ours Peaen Black - a deep deep purple - we got it matched - photos are on IG @poppysstyle

Mrscog Sun 02-Dec-18 20:18:15

Is it the chalk finish you want? If so then research more but if it's just the colour I can't recommend Dulux highly enough. We've got night jewels 2 in places and every fucker is like 'oooh downpipie' ha ha ha!

Ceilingrose Sun 02-Dec-18 22:00:47

I have inchyra blue and cream in one room, and like it. I'd try studio green or darker pigeon type colours in the right space. Or maybe brassica. I like F and B, but have been known to have them mixed when trying to save money. Including the Inchyra. I prefer the real thing myself, and would have it for a lounge or main bedroom.
